Internet 3-Card Poker Strategies
Three Card Poker is
poker in its purist form. You can't play the bluff game and hope to win with nothing in your hand. You need to look at the cards you are dealt and make a rational, logical decision about whether to raise the stakes or call a card. The computer will tell you if you made the right decision.
A strategy for coming out ahead in 3 card poker is really much more based on assembling your long-term prospects. You already know what the odds are. What this really means, if that in one hundred, or even better, one thousand rounds of
three card poker, you know how many times you can expect a three of a kind, straight, a flush, etc. You also can calculate how many times you will have nothing and will have to fold. Once you have this information, all you need to do is keep a complete, detailed journal of what cards you got in every round.
For example, the odds of getting a straight flush are forty to one. That means, in one hundreds hands, on average you will hit a straight flush twice. So when you sit down to play, keep the fact in the back of your mind that on average, you will be getting a straight flush twice. As time goes by in which you don't see it, you can start to believe that you are getting closer.
3 Card Poker Strategy Tip - Know When to Fold 'em
The key is also to learn to recognize when you have a bad hand and fold early. If your high card is a Jack or lower, and your second highest card is a seven or lower, you are not likely to win. Fold and get a new hand. Whenever you get a pair, raise. While you will not always win, chances are in three card poker there will only be one pair between you and the dealer. If you have got it, use it.
Note, this will not work every time. It is unlikely that both you and the dealer will have a pair, but not impossible. A good 3 card poker strategy will only increase your odds, it will not give you an automatic win.
3 Card Poker Strategy Tip - To Ante or to Pair Plus
Another important point to keep in mind is that
three card poker is two games in one. In the ante play, you are competing against the dealer. In pair plus, you are simply paid if you get a pair or higher. Don't bet the pair plus every time. If you lose the ante it will make your loss greater, and if you win the ante it will reduce your winnings. Do not ignore pair plus completely though. Try a strategy where say you bet pair plus every third hand. What you are looking for is the hand in which you win both the ante and the pair plus. That does happen about ten percent of the time.
Practicing 3 Card Poker Strategies
As said before, the key is to know what your
history is. Try different 3 card poker strategies - practice and be patient. Don't be afraid to use a journal and jot down how you are doing, or use the play history when playing online 3-card poker. While things may not look clear after playing a few dozen rounds, after you have played a few hundred over a few days, you will start to see whether your strategy is working or whether it's time to "change gears" and try a different tact.
The most important thing is to have fun and not get in over your head. You should always be comfortable with the amount your are betting. You have to be able to smile when you win, and even give a little smile when you lose. When you can do that, you can call yourself a three card poker maven.
