Tips to Win at Texas Hold 'em
Unlike
other online games, Texas Hold 'em Poker can be
learned quite quickly. There are no complicated odds with sequential probabilities. It is about straight forward as poker can be. By using your two "hole" cards (which are known only to you), and the six "community cards" open to all players, you try and form the best possible
five card poker hand. The last round when everyone shows their cards is referred to as the "show down." Despite the simplicity, there are still some tips that everyone should try and follow.
Texas Hold'em Quick Tips to Win
Keep your "hole" cards to yourself. Once an opponent sees what you have, you are at an immediate disadvantage. If you are bluffing, don't hesitate when you bet. A good opponent will sense your hesitation, smell blood and pounce on you.
Only bet if you feel you have a winning (not just a "good" hand), or if you think you can bluff the other players into thinking you have a winning hand. If you overuse the bluff, no one will believe you. Keep it as your silver bullet.
If you find yourself with two great cards in the hole, (like let's say two Kings), don't go nuts. Remember, at the end of the day it is the player with the best five cards. While a pair of kings is a great two card hand, it is really not that special. (Don't get this wrong, you should raise a few times and feel confident, but just don't be surprised if someone comes up with a three of a kind and sweeps you off your feet. Even three twos will beat a pair of Kings.)
Don't take risks if your stack of cash is running down. If you just have a few bucks left, keep calling until the monster hand comes along. Then beat everyone and collect the pot.
If you have some cash, be a bit more aggressive. Take a chance and clean up when you drive everyone else into the ground. That's part of the fun of Texas Hold'em Poker.
If there is already a three of a kind in the community cards, assume that someone has that fourth card and will win the pot. If it ain't you, fold quicker than pasta in a minestrone soup.
The same holds true if four cards out of the six in the center form a straight. Someone will have the low card and someone will have the high card making the five card straight. If you have the high card, you will win the pot. If you have the low card, you are about even to win. It all depends how many people are playing.
You don't have to be from Texas to play Texas Hold'em, but it helps.
Use the odds to guide your actions. Don't count on a flush or a straight. Keep your eye on three of a kind or two pair.
